Katelyn's school visited the Wildlife Santuary of Northwest Florida
it was fun
the flight school is for eagles that come injured
they rehabilitate them
and teach them to fly
inside the flight school
are poles and wires and trees
so they can learn how to land in things in nature
the kids were trying to see if their wing span
was a big a some of the birds at the sanctuary
brown pelicans
see the one with his wing over his beak
i thought that was funny
the lady said that in the winter
there are hundreds of pelicans here
because this water is stocked with fish
year round
so any pelican that has even been here
always come back to eat
this was an actual eagles nest found in the wild
only 1/2 was recreated for the children's area
very cool to think that something actually called this place home
kate fits nicely
the place was very interesting
they had a blind goose
named hellen keller
it just walked around sticking out its neck really far
like a cane
to make sure that nothing was in front before it walked
hmmm
was told that most of the birds come injured from fishing hooks
or fishing line
that dangers the animals
was told that chemical dumped in waters
cause developemental delay in young birds
and deformations
was told that they are 100% funded by sponsors
and hospital is run by volunteers
i think i want to sponsor
hmmmmm
