Katelyn's bear crawl

Kate has adapted a very strange way of crawling. I guess the hardwood floors hurt her knees??? because she lifts her hiney and walks on her hands and feet--not her knees....until she gets to the carpet, then she puts her knees back on the ground...She is so silly!

Every year I take Maddy's photo with this pink bunny so we can watch as she grows. So this year was no exception, other than having Kate in the photo too!

I got out the tunnel on Saturday and Katelyn and Madison had fun crawling in and out-

What up my peeps?

So Easter is long gone--no peeps though--just chocolate and sweet tarts YUM-O

Madison loved hiding and finding the eggs.

Katelyn even got to play with some eggs---she liked the roll them around--silly goose!

It wouldn't be a trip to see Pops and Nana without a ride on the golf cart to feed the donkeys. This day was cold so Madison was bundled up in Pops jacket and Nana's visor (to keep her hair out of her face-Haha)
Maddy also got a Cinderella and Mariposa costume from the Easter Bunny. She was so excited--every day she dresses up and puts on the movie to match the outfit. So funny.

So we went on the boat today. It was a little chilly but fun anyway. Katelyn did great for her first time. She was a little resistant to the life jacket-but she will figure it out soon enough. Madison really wanted to get in the water but it was WAY TOO COLD for that non-sense today. Hopefully in a couple of weeks it will be swimable.

This is a photo of Maddy driving the boat when she was a little bitty thing---awe--the memories!

We got a rental for a Yard Card yesterday--HIP HIP HORRAY! so we will deliver it in the morning. Eric is waiting for the paint to dry and having a bowl of yummy ice cream- Peace out!

Photos

These are some of the photos from the Easter Egg hunt at church. It took me for-ever to download these from my camera! Sorry--:-)

Nana and Pops sent Maddy and Kate Easter goodies---Madison loves getting balloons (as long as they are tied to something--she is terrified that the balloons will pop in the fan-LOL)

Thursday sunshine

Today is a gorgeous day. The sun is shining with a slight breeze. We were up early and hit the car wash. On Tuesday afternoon, San Antonio had mud rain! Yes it was rainy mud...so gross. The car washes were 1 hour wait on Wednesday and about 30 minutes today. Good thing we bought an unlimited car wash pass for both trucks. Then we hit Sam's Club for diapers and fruit. 200 Huggies diapers for only $35! What a deal! ;-) At least that is what I tell myself.
On Wednesday we had a play date at Big Top Kidz. It is an indoor playroom that has a big jumpy castle, play house, kitchen, slide, and crazy coupes galore! Afterward, we hit Jason's Deli--YUM-O!
We are heading to Gwen and Rob's house for dinner tonight..pork chops...my favorite! Eric is flying today but will land around 2 pm--the girls are napping (at the same time) and I am getting ready to unload the dishwasher-start laundry-and pick up downstairs.

O Yeah I almost forgot--I went to tan last night. Eric got me a gift certificate for Valentine's Day to Aramesh Day Spa---they have the Mystic Tan spray tan. I used to tan alot in college but I realized how bad it was for my skin so Eric thought I might like to spray tan. So last night, I decided I would go and get my tan on! I was really nervous--the girl working said "the machine is loud and the mist tends to surprise people, but whatever you do, don't scrunch your face because it will cause lines that won't get tanned. And you may have trouble breathing--just hold your breath. And when you get out, wipe ALL OVER your body in a circular motion...like ALL OVER in CIRCLES" Me "okay--I can handle it"
WOW---what a shock! She was right-the machine was loud and the mist smelled gross..it was hard to breathe. So I would inhale when the mist was spraying down and hold my breath as it was coming up again. It stopped, I faced back ward. It sprayed again. I got out and it looked like liquid smoke pouring out, I could not see anything. I grabbed the towel and started circular motions. WOW---they provide a bath towel that feels like a brillo pad. The lighting was horrible and I wasn't exactly sure what to do--I kept thinking circles, circles, circles.

So I get home and tell Eric about my experience and he is shocked. I couldn't really tell much last night---but this morning--I look like a bad --self tan--gone wrong. I have stripes on the inside of my legs that are WHITE and dirty looking orange knees, feet and hands. So funny---

All and all --I like the way it looks. Now that I know what to..hopefully next time I will do a better job of rubbing in circular motions to get the spots that the mist misses. They say the tan will last for 7 to 10 days--so I'll go again next week with better results (HOPEFULLY).

Tuesday blues

Hello out there-it is pouring down rain today and I had several things to get accomplished....grocery shopping, trip to sam's club, and car wash. O well--pizza for dinner--it is Little Ceasars 3.99 pizza night---can't beat it!
Our weekend was good-everything went as expected. We went to dinner on Saturday and church on Sunday. We had an Easter egg hunt afterwards and Maddy got 2 eggs--she is not used to competing for eggs yet!
Katelyn had a rough weekend--she didn't sleep well but Monday was "back on track" day and she slept great last night-down around 10pm and up at 7:30am. Go Kate!
That is all for now-Rain rain go away!

another fun filled day

Today was playgroup with Gwen and Tisa. We had an Easter egg hunt and a picnic lunch. FUN! Tisa made lunch kabobs for the kids (lunch meat, cheese and pickle on a toothpick). They were a huge hit with the kiddos. The mommies had chicken salad-YUMMY!

Tonight was BUNCO at Gwen's. Eric's mom went too (as a sub-like me) and she had 17 buncos. CHEATER! She was the big winner-can you believe that SH*T? She liked it so much that she joined the group-they meet once a month and have a ball-all of the ladies are so much fun and crack me up.

Tomorrow is FRIDAY-WHOOP! and then Saturday is date night with Tisa and Derek Guillory and Gwen and Rob Sawyer. We are meeting at Paesano's for dinner and then having fondu at The Guillory's afterward. FUN-I can't wait for a little adult time!

UPDATE ON KATE-each night is getting better -- she only woke up once last night, cried for about 25minutes and didn't wake up until 7am. That is a huge improvement from having to get up every 2 hours all night long. It was so hard to listen to her cry but it was short lived in the greater scheme of things. She has such a sweet disposition and it is heartbreaking to have her cry. But she is learning and this morning at her 7am feeding, she laid down afterward and did not cry (and again at nap today). So hopefully, the weekend will yield even better results and she will begin sleeping through the night (without crying) soon! It only takes 7 days to make a habit...RIGHT? RIGHT? RIGHT?
Her eye is healing from where she fell on Madison's table (or chair.?.not sure of the real story)---it is now a brown and green bruise. Starting to go away!

Below are two photos from Kate's Baptism. The dress was worn by me, my cousin (Rhett), Madison and now Katelyn. I want to take the slip and have initials and dates embroidered. Maybe in my "FREE TIME" LOL HA HA HA

Busy day today...

today was one of those days where even though i left work at 4pm...i felt as if i was there for 16 hours...i had to teach a bunch of post-college, pre-real life nav students approximately 4 classes... and after i got done i just about wanted to punch a few of them right in the face...i realize how old i really am after talking...no better yet lecturing... to these numb-nuts. i was trying to make some fairly complex lessons more simplistic and easy to understand by using my strange sense of humor and some overall good teaching techniques...but i still got a bunch of "uh...sir...i don't get it" looks...and one student who wanted to argue a concept with me...i came this close (putting fingers very close together) to telling the dude off in front of the whole class...needless to say i kept my cool and reassured him that what he was freaking out about wasn't that big of a deal...or maybe i was reassuring myself that this dude wasn't worth freaking out about...who knows...in the end i think it went well...but wow...today was a test. I got home and melisa was very understanding and let me have some time to decompress while she took the girls to walmart...which was very nice. instead of melisa telling me to kiss it and tossing me the girls as she ran out the door...she showed just how awesome she is...i am a lucky guy to have such an understanding...AND HOT...wife...not to mention the fact that she makes some really beautiful daughters...i'm lucky...and thankful...very thankful.

Pirates of the Family Blog

I found it...and i added my face to the diggs in order to see how it would look...it's official...Capt Randomthoughts...i would probably add an animal to my shoulder but i'm not that great at photoshopping...but hey...at least i found a good costume...how about that mean pirate scrunched up nose pirate snarl...it's better if you look at it and say "Grrrr..." like i would...it become more 3 dimensional i think when you add the voice...i think i need a boat or maybe a cannon or something...that costume definitely has "blog hijacker" written all over it...well either that or really gay guy yielding a sword...but i think the first one more than the second...and a SWORD???...wow...yeah i need a sword to go with this do...adds some authority...or loss of fingers...yeah probably loss of fingers or a limb...but hey it looks cool...ah i think i'm a kid in a 31 year old's body. Talking about being a kid...i'm pumped about getting to go out with my wife and friends this saturday...we haven't done that in a few weeks and it sounds like a good time to me...oh well...arrr matey!

update on crying Kate

So last night went well. Katelyn went to bed at 9:30pm, woke up around 1:30am and I was back in bed at 2am. At 8:30am she was sitting in her bed playing--no screaming! It is nap time now and she only cried for 5 minutes. It seems to be working---wait---I hear her now! I spoke too soon.

This is so much easier said, than done. As she cries, I tend to think the worst. Maybe she is caught in the rails of the crib, maybe she can't find her pacifier, maybe she really does need me. GOSH! But then I have to keep reminding myself that this technique works! I remember doing this with Madison and she is a great sleeper now. In Louisiana, when our parents would visit from out of town, they could not believe that we would let Maddy cry. But then, they also could not believe that we could just lay her in her bed and she would fall asleep on her own.

Hopefully Katelyn will drift off to sleep soon. She is so tired and could really use a nap. I'm the mom! I know that is best! I think.....;-(

worst mom award goes to...

Me
Today was the first day of "let Katelyn cry it out". To make a long story short, she is almost 8 months old and a horrible sleeper. She barely takes 1 nap a day and is yet to sleep through the night. Madison was sleeping through the night by week 8. When we were in Alabama, Kate was sleeping great--since her 6mo checkup in January..no such luck. It seems like she wakes up every hour all night long. I can't take it anymore!

So after much debate and research, we have decided to just let her cry...period! But she doesn't just cry-she screams --and not just any scream--it sounds like the devil is taking over--she gets out of control. This morning she cried for 39 minutes but she finally went to sleep and slept for over 2 hours. When she woke up she was happy!! just sat in her bed and played. Later this afternoon, she was rubbing her eyes, so I lay her down and she only cried for 8 minutes. I thought...hmmm.this is working out pretty good. Tonight she cried for nearly 25 minutes and she is finally asleep. POOR BABY! I know it is best for her to soothe herself..I know that it is teaching her great sleeping habits..I know that she does not hate me for doing it..so why is it so hard to listen too? Why do I need a pep squad to make it through 20 minutes of crying?

O well, another day down the drain. And a long night ahead. My prediction is that she will be screaming again at 12 and 5 am. I'll post tomorrow and let you know what happened. Good night and happy dreams.

Kate's eye

Kate is not scared of anything. She is pulling up on anything that will stand still long enough. On Saturday she was standing up next to Madison while she was drawing at her desk and the chair gave way. On the way down, Katelyn's right eye kissed the edge of the table. OUCH! She has a nice little cut and bruise to show off her first accident. There have been other falls, but she would hit to back of her head--no marks for the camera. This was the first piece of evidence! DARN.

And what is a post without a photo of Madison. Silly girl :-)

...my left eye can wear the pirate patch since it's kinda squinty...see below!

Blog Envy

i wish i was that cool...to have a blog of my own where i could talk about whatever...or nothing at all... and someone would read it and think....hmmm...that's funny....or hmmm...that was a waste of my time. well here goes nothing...and then i realize...this isn't my blog...i've hijacked my wife's blog and now i feel like a total pirate!..blog pirate?...is there such thing?...arrrr mateys...raise the skull and cross bones flag and hide the shift keys (i don't like to bother with such formality)...oh and we only allow a minimum of 3...yes 3 periods at the end of a sentence...they are called run-on thoughts and blog pirates speak and think only in run-on...arrrr! ah the power a blog pirate has...do blog pirates have parrots?...no i think they have a mouse...get it?...a mouse...(crickets in the background)...like a mouse...with a left and right clicker key...not the kind that eat cheese...or maybe i do mean i mouse...that would be funnier than a computer mouse sitting on my shoulder huh?...ah...and i just thought of a name...Capt Randomthoughts... and i think i will have a posse too...(did i spell that right?...posse?) and i'll call them the band of grammatical thieves...Capt Randomthoughts and the band of grammatical thieves...wow...i'm a loser...i think that i've lost my coolness...or maybe i never had "coolness" to begin with...(i'm sure many of you if not all will agree with that last statement)...sigh...well i have to admit this blog thing is pretty cool...it's a neat way to get those conversations going on in my head onto "paper"?...by the way...i love the photos mel put on this site...makes me feel fortunate to be a husband and father to such beautiful women...

Now onto find some costume ideas for Capt Randomthoughts...

Peace out!

Rock Band Rock Stars

Eric's parents came over tonight to hang out for a little while. We ate wings from Wing Stop, Madison had McDonald's and they had fish (Friday-no meat--a Catholic thing). So after dinner, Eric gave me the Rock Star hand symbol and I knew that this was going to be a Rock Band night. Eric's dad played the guitar and Eric played the drums. Roxanne. Dead or Alive (Bon Jovi). Mississippi Queen. The list goes on. Even Madison knows to get her music box with tambourines, bells, harmonicas, and Wiggles Guitar. I was the dancer. Mimi on the mic. Maddy on maracas. Peepaw on the guitar and Eric banging drums. FUN FUN! So Eric's parents left and the girls are all tucked in and now Eric is rocking out on the guitar while I blog. FUN FUN. Peace out.

Title of Blog

Notice anything different??? Our fabulous blog header...doesn't it look awesome. My friend Erin designed it for me. She is so cool. And I love the pink and brown-ness that she incorporated. Way to go Erin! You're the best.

Eric in Key West

Eric was in Key West last weekend and brought home some beautiful sundresses for me and the girls. They rented scooters to travel the island and had so much fun. He said that they literally went down Highway 1--aka A1A BEACH FRONT AVENUE. LOL. It really does dead end to the beach. Too cool. Here are a couple of the photos from his trip.

They photos of Key West are amazing and I can't wait to go there one day--

Already a problem...

I found out that as I was designing my blog, I choose a design that was already taken by my friend. Since she has been blogging for a long time, I assumed that I would change my layout. I wonder where Erin gets her designs. It seems like she changes her blog design every time I look...and she has the coolest graphics....o well I guess this will do for now.

Ear Infection #2

So today I took Madison to the doctor (keep in mind that we were there on Tuesday with Kate and she has an ear infection) and sure enough...she has an ear infection too. What luck? I guess we are due for an illness. Katelyn has not been sick yet and Madison hasn't been ill in over 2 years. Good news though...Maddy has gained weight-she weighed 30 lbs. YEAH!!! Hopefully the girls will feel better soon.

O-yeah--and Kate is getting her teeth on top--she is a nut and so out of control with teething!

We got the girls photos back from Gwen and Rob and they turned out excellent. Here are a couple of the pics.

As you can see, Kate was already feeling bad and would not crack a smile....so this was the best we could get---I guess it will do---either way, the shoot was great and Maddy loved the bunny!

Blog 1

Hi Welcome to our family blog.
